The Herald Sun reported earlier today that the body of legendary singer Whitney Houston has been found in a Beverly Hills Hotel.

Whitney Houston’s publicist first broke the news that the singer was dead at around 11 AM this morning Australian Eastern Standard Time. Police investigators have confirmed that she died at about 3:55 PM Los Angeles time on Saturday, February 10, 2012.

In breaking news via TMZ it has been reported that Whitney Houston was found dead in the bathtub and that police were waiting on a warrant to search the hotel room. It is also reported that the singer was partying heavily the previous night.

Police Are Investigating

According to Marc Rosen, at the Beverly Hills police department, Whitney Houston’s body was found in a fourth floor hotel room at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel. Police received a call at 3:43 PM EST, however she was pronounced dead minutes later after hotel security and rescue officials were unable to resuscitate her.

Investigations are continuing into the singer’s death, however so far there have been no sign or evidence of criminal intent. Some reports claim that she was found by on/off boyfriend Ray J. A police crime lab was seen outside the hotel shortly after her death was reported. So it would seem that detectives have not found a cause of death as yet.

Houston Possibly Died of a Drug Overdose

Speculation is rife that Ms. Houston most likely died from a drug overdose, as she has had a long history of battling a drug addiction and has spent time in rehab trying to get her life back. However whenever someone famous dies mysteriously, we all assume it’s drugs and that person’s addiction has caught up with them in the worst way possible.

Drug overdose or not; it really doesn’t matter. If Ms. Houston’s addiction is what killed her then she has lost her battle with this illness and drug addiction is an illness, anyway that is a debate for another article. Reports claim that she used cocaine and marijuana on a regular basis and that her beautiful voice was suffering because of it. She was simply unable to hit the high notes when singing.

Bobby Brown, Houston’s Ex-Husband is Devastated

Bobby Brown is said to be “beside himself” about the news of his ex-wife’s death. One of Brown’s family members’ told People Magazine that he is not coping well and apparently in and out of crying fit as he prepares for his band’s concert in Mississippi tonight. The show will go on and he will be on stage as planned. By the end of the phone call when they delivered the news, Brown was said to be sobbing. TMZ has reported that he has spoken with his 18-year old daughter and she is said to be struggling with the news of her mother’s death as well.

Tributes Pour in Via Facebook and Twitter

Celebrities have sent tributes via Twitter and Facebook in droves since the news broke. Many are said to be shocked by the news of Houston’s death at such a young age. Mariah Carey, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and many others have sent their condolences to the family.

Carey has tweeted: “I am heartbroken and in tears over the death of Whitney Houston. She sends her heartfelt condolences to the family and to all of her millions of fans worldwide. Mariah goes on to say that Whitney Houston will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth.”

Boy George has tweeted: “Whitney is dead, OMG, I'm so heartbroken. You were amazing and I hope you have found peace! X” Read more celebrity tweet at Herald Sun/entertainment

A Tragic Loss

Yet another music icon has passed away. Houston was so young and still so much to give the world. She had one the most beautiful singing voices in the music business, not to mention she was a talented actress and her famous voice will be sadly missed by millions around the globe.

A few years ago we lost Michael Jackson; one of the most loved performers in the world and now the beautiful and talented Whitney Houston is dead at 48 years old. These wonderful performers are leaving the world way too soon.
